Quick facts about Cove
Thinking about joining Cove? Let’s learn a little about us first…
Cove was founded in 2017 by Kiwis passionate about building the future of insurance
Our team is based out of our offices in Auckland and Palmerston North. You’ll always speak to a person in New Zealand when dealing with Cove.
Excellent, quick, no fuss service. One text to Cove online about my incident. One phone call from Cove and the incident was sorted that same week. Thanks again Cove 😀
Chanel – 2019
Was easy, no hassle to join online. My first claim was a window screen replacement – due to roadworks damage. They were very helpful to come to the party to get the claim through to the required date.
Eva – 2019
Cove was created by a small team of insurance and technology nerds who are passionate about fixing insurance and reimagining what’s possible
An idea becomes a plan – 2017
Brothers Andy and Rob, along with mate Brett, decided insurance in New Zealand wasn’t quite what they believed it should be. Kiwis had grown to not trust their insurer, and the industry had been slow to adopt new technologies to provide a simple digital experience.
The team is assembled – 2017
The Cove founders put their feelers out, and quickly found a team of people who shared their vision. Bright minds from inside and outside the insurance industry wrote out their resignations and started arriving at the Cove office (Rob & Andy’s basement). They all had one thing in common: the desire to build the best insurance provider and put Kiwis back in control of their insurance.
We also agreed insurance at its best is about community and were happy to spend a sunny day ridding one of the local beaches of plastic.
Cove sells its first policy – June 2018
Pete rang the office sales gong for the first time when Andy bought a car insurance policy in June 2018. Friends, friends of friends and early adopters soon started joining Cove and we upgraded to Gong-bot. Built by tech nerd and CIO Jamie, Gong-bot was armed with a servo, guided by a Raspberry Pi and able to ring itself for each sale. Soon enough a whole heap of Kiwis decided to make the switch and Gong-bot retired. While the gongs eventually became so frequent they got annoying, we are still grateful for and celebrate each new Kiwi who joins Cove.
Chasing five stars – today
All of our numbers are starting to have more 0s and commas and through the growth we’ve maintained our 4.8 star rating across hundreds of reviews. Cove is built for the people of New Zealand so these reviews and other feedback guide us on what to fix, improve and build next. 4.8 isn’t 5.0 so we’ve still got work to do! We’d love to have you along for the journey.
